June 12 has been a date that families look forward to every year, aside from its huge significance in our lives as Filipinos, it is also a date that family could bond well and spend quality time together.

Filipinos around the world celebrate Philippine Independence with great festivity. They organize programs that would really refresh their nationalism and other significant gestures in connection to this event. And of course, what they also look forward to is the salu-salo that they enjoy after the program. They bring different Filipino cuisines that would make them feel they are home, while others have a grand parade to observe this occasion.

Here in the Philippines, both the national and the local government organize an annual grand parade in cooperation with the government officials, employees and institutions. This is one of the highlights of this celebration. Some towns around the country even have competitions in dance parade, costumes, and more. Indeed, there is much that we have.

Ordinary citizens also have their own means of observing Independence Day like spending time in the national park, historical museums and other nationalistic establishments.

Here in Cavite, we are very fortunate to have a lot of places that we can visit to have a meaningful celebration of our independence. Listed are the places where you may visit this June 12:

Aguinaldo Shrine and Museum, Kawit –It is where the proclamation of the Philippine Independence took place.

Battle of Julian Bridge Marker, Imus- another place that reminds us of the battle between Filipinos and Spaniards in that certain location.

House of Tirona, Imus- location where you can see a well maintained historical site

Fort San Felipe, Cavite City- a structure that was made in 1609 to protect the growing city.

Andres Bonifacio House, General Trias- house where the brave Andres Bonifacio lived. They renovated this place but maintained its Spanish style and feel.

All these historical places and more—and of course, a celebration wouldn’t be complete without mouthwatering Filipino cuisines. Republic of Cavite Restaurant, an establishment in Trece Martires City built by Town’s Delight The Caterer is another pride of the province in bringing cuisines that are proudly Filipino. Your family will not just be fascinated by the food they serve but also with its structure. Because the place is a replica of Aguinaldo, you will have the feel of this important celebration. It also displays different photos from the past that reveals different stories that you can all enjoy. That is why if you are looking for the perfect place where you can spend Philippine Independence, visit Republic of Cavite Restaurant.
